Jump! Jump! Jump!

Just because I havn’t updated much recently doesn’t mean i havn’t made any progress, i’ve made some, but i’ve had some complications with what im doing.  For a start, although the hittest worked the first time, which is a first for me, I had problems with some of the timeline control and spent a while sorting that out. To add to that,  I was planning to have link leaning in mid air depending on which way you’re heading, but I realised that this gives the problem of having to create an absolute tons of slightly different sword motions, increasing the file size and the the time it’ll take, so I’ve ended up wasting time and overall i havn’t got that far.

To add to that, I’ve had A2 exams recently, so im still doing revision for those at the moment.

I plan also to buy a graphics tablet, I found a good one on amazon for only £27,  but im worried its not going to be big enough (roughly 4 DS touch screen sizes) for what I’d like to do, especially in the opening sequence.

Keywords info

Keywords is something that I’ll do when i have nothing else much to post or if im just feeling downright lazy.  As can be seen in yesterday’s post, the keywords are a few words and they all link together to the storyline or other aspects of the game.

I’ve devloped my ideas for the storyline furthur but it’s now got to the stage that if i post them up here it will start to ruin the game for anyone who plays it, so i geuss ill just have to not tell anyone…

Crouching Animations

January 6, 2007 at 9:41 pm | In Blogroll, Progress | 2 Comments

I’ve finished the animations for while link is crouching, as it was before, there is currently no animations to go from standing to crouch and I’ll decided whether or not to add it later on because it could delay the time it takes to crouch and/or get up, which should be an almost instant action.

This means I now need to sort out the jumping animation and redesign my currently ripped platforming script, whcih could take some time, but if i get it to work well, it’ll for the basis of the game engine and should bode well for the rest of my programming if i can get it to work.

More Storyline Details

Im going to give away some more of the storyline details today, although they are subject to change and i havn’t got a full firm storyline yet, in fact what i’ve currently got in mind only covers the start and middle of the game, not between those two and not after.

Contrary to what I said before, I will now probabbly make the game a sequel to Twilight Princess, still using Ordon as link’s main home but with many variations in Hyrule, the game will includes small parts and references from other games as well, but the main storyline will be completely original…ish, i hope.

Also, assuming i have success programming them all in a reasonable timeframe, you will start Zelda 2D with all the items you have by the end of Twilight Princess.

A month Later…

Yay! Finally some more progress!

Due to various reasons, i.e. getting a wii and twilight princess on launch in the UK…, i havn’t really been doing much work, but now twilight princess is complete, im hopefully going to get back to doing more work, although i can’t promise a lot because i have exams this month.

I have finished the animation for link walking right to left now, took me a while to get it right and i finally realised why it looked much worse before.  So now im going to go to the crouching and jumping animations which will require some level of coding to make work slickly, it might also involve redesigning the platforming script i currently have.

Im slowly coming up with more parts of the storyline which i may reveal some elements of in the next few days
